Traditional deep water culture systems allowed plants to grow directly in oxygenated nutrient solutions. However, Wilson noticed inconsistencies that could occur between individual plant sites.

To solve this problem, the team developed a recirculating design that homogenized the nutrient solution throughout the entire system. By continuously moving water through interconnected plant modules, growers could maintain consistent water chemistry, nutrient levels, and oxygen availability across every plant.

This approach eventually evolved into the well-known Under Current RDWC system, which has since been adopted by growers around the world.

Even today, RDWC remains one of the most productive hydroponic cultivation methods for high-performance indoor gardens.

Why High Pressure Aeroponics Is the Next Step

While RDWC systems continue to perform extremely well, Wilson and his team were interested in pushing efficiency even further.

That curiosity led to the development of a new platform: high pressure aeroponics.

Unlike traditional hydroponics where plant roots are submerged in water, aeroponic systems suspend roots in air while delivering nutrients through a fine mist. When designed correctly, this method provides an exceptional balance of water, oxygen, and nutrients in the root zone.

According to Wilson, early experimentation began around 2016 as the company explored ways to create scalable propagation systems that could operate from cloning through harvest.

The results were striking.

High pressure aeroponics used minimal water while delivering extremely high oxygen availability to plant roots. This combination created rapid growth rates and efficient nutrient uptake.

Over time, the research expanded beyond propagation systems and into full-scale cultivation platforms.

Advantages of Bare Root Cultivation

One of the biggest advantages of aeroponic cultivation is the ability to grow plants without traditional growing media.

By eliminating substrates such as rockwool or coco, growers gain several benefits:

  • Reduced waste streams

  • Faster nutrient absorption

Bare root cultivation also gives growers a clearer view of root health and development, making it easier to detect problems early and maintain optimal conditions.
